What's New for the 2021 Forester?
Drivers in Waterbury who go with the new Forester will now get automatic high beams as well as adaptive LED headlamps on any model they choose. The Limited model will continue to use a continuously variable transmission but will also gain a seven-speed manual mode. This is a feature that was previously only found on the Sport and Touring models. Choosing the Premium trim level will now mean getting fog lights as well as keyless entry and ignition, while the Sport gains blind-spot monitoring.
Performance
A 2.5-liter flat-four engine is standard for the entire Forester lineup. It gives you 182 horsepower, 176 pound-feet of torque, and the ability to tow up to 1,500 pounds. The continuously variable transmission sends power to all four wheels, giving you great traction. This setup also gets you the fuel economy drivers in Norwalk are after, with EPA estimates of 26 MPG city and 33 MPG highway.
The Forester is prepared to get you where you need to go. On top of the standard AWD, this SUV has 8.7-inches of ground clearance. It also has nice, wide windows so that you get a great view of where you are and where you need to be.
Safety
EyeSight Driver Assistance technology is found on all models of the Forester. This is a collection of features that are aimed to help protect you, your passengers, and those around your vehicle in a variety of situations. Automatic Pre-Collision Braking is a great example. It can apply the Forester's full braking force and bring the SUV to a complete stop in an emergency situation. You also get Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering to help you on those longer journeys around Brewster, NY and beyond.
Upper trim levels of the 2021 Forester have even more advanced driver aids for you to test out. Available for the Premium while standard for the Sport, Limited, and Touring models is Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Reverse Automatic Braking, on the other hand, is available for the Sport and Limited and standard for the Touring.
Also standard for the Touring model is a Driver Distraction Mitigation System. This advanced feature can recognize up to five different drivers. It will alert you if it feels you have grown distracted or drowsy while behind the wheel.
